Don't time out

Meshell Louderman 8 years ago updated by anonymous 8 years ago 1

Can we get a longer time before we time out or maybe get rid of this all together? I envision having IPA open all day where I'm waiting for an email response and then go in and record the change, or I'm working on various projects at once and I'm going back and forth between them. I'd like to have at least a 4 hr window if we have to have it timed out at all.

Sadly no. The state of web applications today makes it inordinately difficult to program for a website where the webpage is left open but the data on the backend is changing constantly. Once your open webpage and the server get out of sync with each other, errors will start happening.

I recommend bookmarking IPA or placing it in your Bookmarks Toolbar if you need frequent, easy access.

So long as you don't completely close your browser (i.e. close the IPA tab but not the Firefox/Chrome/etc program) you'll stay logged into CAS which should help speed things up.

After our 1.0 release we can work on re-architecting IPA to support this.
